I’m a professional reviewer

I am a professional reviewer.   I’ve been doing product reviews online since 1998, but I didn’t start “professionally” reviewing until 2008.   A professional reviewer is someone who receives products (or services) from a company for free (or a discounted rate), in exchange for a detailed product review.  There is never any monetary payment involved.

There are probably thousands of product reviewers out there, it’s surprisingly easy to get into, although there are a lot of pitfalls along the way that would be easy to fall into.   Because I have the advantage of being a long standing reviewer who is established, in many ways I am insulated from the problems that befall many new reviewers looking to do this professionally.  One of the main culprits is coupon clubs.

I am constantly learning new things every day to improve my reviews.   For instance, I used to only do written reviews, and now 99.9% of the time I include photos or video.   Little improvements over time is what it’s all about.   I still have a long way to go.  My video editing skills are not where I’d like them to be, but just a year ago I had no video editing skills!  I’m also a newbie to SEO, but I’m trying to incorporate that as well where I can.

I think it’s mainly about trying out new products, and sharing with the potential buyer what they may like and not like about a product.  We all are different in what we are looking for, so if I review with that diversity in mind – I think it helps the reviews be more encompassing and useful to a wider audience.

The selfie stick is large enough to accommodate any size phone, even the large style phablet phones.   On the car mounts, my personal favorite is the Long Arm style with the clamp, it’s easy to get your phone in and out and is very adjustable. I’ve had every single style of car mount, and for me that one works the best.   However the vent mount styles are good for changing between cars, since they just clip in, and that is also the same with the the slot styles – which also tend to be very stable because they insert directly into your CD player.

The JAVION home projector

There are many projectors with all kinds of confusing jargon and multiple steps to get it from box to watching a movie.  This projector is not one of those.  Within seconds I was projecting from my smartphone using a standard micro USB to HDMI converter (not included).  The controls are easy to understand and clearly marked.  (This is my 5th projector and it ranks among the easiest I have used so far).

The menus are easy to manage (much easier to manage with the remote control, so I advise not losing that) and clearly set up for everyday users to adjust the screen to fit their needs.  We did find a type-o on one of the menu screens but after a laugh we realized if that is the only flaw for the projector it is a great deal. Video was spelled: ‘VDIEO’.

There is an outlet for audio out, but we found we didn’t need it for our small room.  The sound coming out of the projector was good quality.  You could of course add speakers if you want a more powerful sound or are using in a larger area.

The only concern we had was the bottom of the projector got very warm.  I would be mindful of where you placed the projector if you wanted to binge-watch some Netflix series, but it was fine for the one movie that we watched.

We were also able to test the AVI inputs using our DVD.  The picture and quality was just as good using this option.  We were also able to plug in our computer using the VGA jack and once again were pleased with the quality of the picture.

Over this projector is easy to use and a great value.  Find it on Amazon, currently it’s selling for under $160.

Arousing Appetites dish review

I got my fist Arousing Appetites piece of ceramic bake ware the other day and it’s quite impressive.   My current “expensive” ceramic bake ware (and matching tableware) is all Franciscan, which I inherited from my grandmother, some of those pieces are antique and some are modern – but they are all very high quality, and so I was surprised to find that Arousing Appetites makes ceramics that are every bit as high quality, but not always quite as expensive (And, the pattern is more up to date!).   To be sure, this dish wasn’t a twenty dollar blue light special, but I was amazed how well it performed, and how great it looks.
